In our work together you will learn that trauma is not caused by the event itself, but rather that it develops through the inability of the body, psyche, and nervous system to process adverse events.

Often, therapy focuses only on the mental aspects of what ails you. While this can certainly be helpful, it also leaves the body behind- which is the root of where trauma is stored.

You have the ability to self-regulate.

However, through rationalizations, judgments, shame, and fear of our bodily sensations, we may disrupt our innate capacity to self-regulate, and thus remain in the cycle of disabling terror and helplessness.

In therapy together, we start with finding safety and ease. This process moves forward through both acceptance and change as you become reacquainted with the felt sense of living in your body again.
